Who Am I?
I’m Shannon Porter, an editor with a love and curiosity for language and a naturally sharp eye for detail. Based in Perth, WA, I run In Other Words Creative, an editing service that helps people communicate with clarity and confidence.
My Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma in Proofreading & Editing – Centre of Excellence
- Distinction in Becoming a Proofreader – Knowadays
- Bachelor degree in Creative Advertising & Graphic Design – Curtin University
- Currently building hands-on experience through client projects
My Goals
In the next three years, I aim to grow In Other Words Creative into a trusted local editing service in WA, known for quality, personality, and clear communication. My mission is to support small business owners, students, and fellow creatives with professional editing and formatting.
I recently joined the Institute of Professional Editors (IPEd) as an Associate member, with the goal to reach Professional in the near future.
My Quirks
I’m often found editing with a hot cup of tea nearby and dramatic film scores playing in the background. When I’m not editing, I’m reading fantasy novels—and mentally proofreading them, of course. I can’t help but count errors.
